In this post, I talked about a simple tutorial on how to transfer files to Android TV via a cloud service.
Stream Files to Android TV Using Cloud Service
The best part about using this method is that it’s a one-time process and doesn’t require a connection over a public WiFi network. On that note, let’s go ahead and find the steps.
1. First, open Play Store on your Android TV and Install Solid Explorer (Freeoffers in-app purchases).
2. Then open it and click on the hamburger menu in the upper left corner. Here click on the 3-dot menu and select “Warehouse Manager“.
3. On the next page, choose your choice of cloud service. I choose this as I mostly use Google Drive for file transfer.
4. Next, you can: enter a display name if you want and click “Next” located in the upper right corner. I left the display name blank as this step is optional.
5. Now, click on “Sign in to Google Drive“.
6. It will take you to your existing Google account linked to the TV. you can simply select that account or add a new account from the option below.
7. After doing this, Solid Explorer will ask for your permission to access your Google Drive files. keep in mind this is a delicate leave only continue if you are sure of what you are doing. I recommend adding a secondary Google account so that your personal files in Google Drive are not touched by any third party apps.
8. After doing this, click “Next” and review all details.
9. Finally, “Connect” and you are done. Note that you may be prompted to create a password to protect your Drive files in Solid Explorer. If you want, you can add an additional layer of security.
10. Now your Google Drive same hamburger menu In Solid Explorer. Open it to access all your Drive files.
11. For example, I wanted Import APK file so I uploaded it to my Google Drive and now I can access the APK directly from my Android TV. That’s pretty seamless, isn’t it? Not just APK, you can upload and stream any file or folder to Android TV using any of the major cloud services.
