First of all, make sure you have an active Apple developer account ($99 per year) as it is a must to participate in the beta program. Another thing that you should check without fail is to make sure that you have a safe backup of all your data. Since beta software is often unstable due to random bugs, I recommend using a secondary device to test macOS 12 beta. As for compatibility, macOS 12 is said to support 2014 Mac or later.
macOS lets you easily back up your data using Time Machine. Simply launch System Preferences and select Time Machine. Now, open Time Machine and then click Select Backup Disk. Downloading the macOS developer beta is as simple as it gets. Follow the steps below.
- Open a browser on your Mac and navigate to: developer.apple.com and sign in to your account. Then click on Downloads section in the left sidebar.

3. Then, “DownloadsSelect the ” window using Finder and macOS 12 Developer Beta Access Utility.

4. Next, what you need to do Double-click macOSDeveloperBetaAccessUtility.pkg to run the installer.

Once the installer is downloaded, System Preferences will automatically check for the latest update. Then you can click “Update” to download the macOS 12 developer beta software. After the software download is complete, the installation process will start normally.

3. Next, click on To organise. After that enter the admin password and Install the software.


Next up, continue with macOS 12 Monterey beta installation instructions. Click “Upgrade Now” to start.

Note that your Mac will reboot to install macOS 12. During installation, you will see a black screen with the Apple logo and a progress bar on your Mac. You will need to be patient for the process to complete peacefully as the process will take some time.
