Entering a password every time you log into your Windows 10 computer can get tiring after a while. If it is a personal computer and no one can access it without your permission, you can remove the login password screen. To avoid the hassle, simply disable the login password feature in Windows 10.
Disabling a password will eliminate that extra step when you want to use your computer. However, it can also potentially compromise the security of the computer. We do not recommend removing the login password and you should read on to find out why.
Why Not Recommended
As mentioned earlier, removing a password to log in to Windows can put your data at risk. Anyone can easily use your computer and access your personal files. Second, you may be at greater risk if your laptop or PC is stolen.
More importantly, if it’s an administrator account that you’re going to remove the password from, any malicious apps running on your device will have more access than before.
However, removing the password from a personal computer makes sense for some. If this is the case, we will guide you to completely remove the login password from Windows 10.
Let’s check out how to turn off the Login Password prompt in Windows.
How to Turn Off the Login Password Prompt in Windows
To remove the login password, the first thing you need to do is turn off the login username and password feature so Windows doesn’t ask you the same thing every time you log in. Here’s how to do it.
Stage 1: Click on the start menu, type netplwiz and press Enter. Alternatively, you can open the Run dialog with the Windows key+R shortcut and type: netplwiz inside. Then click OK.

Step 2: On the User Accounts screen that opens, select the account whose password you want to remove if you have more than one account.
Stage 3: Uncheck the box that says ‘Users must enter a username and password to use this computer’. Then click Apply.

Step 4: Confirm your Microsoft Account Information by entering your password twice and click OK. Press OK once again.
Windows will then remove your password.

Note: If you accidentally enter an incorrect password in the last step, Windows will not prompt you for it right away.
The next time you try to log in, Windows will show you an error message with two identical accounts. And you will need to enter the password to use either of these two accounts. After logging in, follow the steps mentioned above and enter the correct password.
How to Close the ‘Require Login’ Prompt
Even entering a password every time your computer wakes up from sleep can be tiring, and everyone prefers direct access to the desktop. In this case, you can turn off the ‘Require login’ prompt in Windows 10. Here’s how to do this.
Stage 1: Click on the Start Menu again and open Settings. Next, click on Accounts.

Step 2: Click on Sign-in options on your left, and then change the settings under Require sign-in from the drop-down list to Never.

After that, restart your computer to check if it can be opened directly without requiring a password.
Alternatively, you can switch to a local account to sign in directly to Windows 10. Here’s how to do this.
How to Switch to Local Account
Another way to log into Windows 10 directly is to switch to Local Account. Note that you won’t be able to access your personalized settings by switching to a local account. If you’re fine with that, here’s how you can do it.
Stage 1: Click on Start Menu and open Settings. Then go to Accounts.
Step 2: Click on Your Information on the left, then click on ‘Sign in with a local account instead’ and click Next. Next, you will be asked to enter your current password.

Stage 3: Create a new username and leave the password field blank and hit Next. Then click Sign Out and Finish.

This way you can create a local account without any password and log into Windows 10 directly. Simple, right?
How to Remove Password from Local Account
If you are using a Local account with a password already set, you must remove the password from that account to log in directly. Here’s how.
Stage 1: Click on Start Menu and open Settings. Then go to Accounts.
Step 2: Click on Sign in options on the left. After that, click on Password on your right and click on the Change button.

Stage 3: Follow the onscreen instructions and enter your current password to confirm it’s you. After that, press Next.
Step 4: It will now ask you to set a new password, but as we don’t want one, just click Next. Then click Finish.
You will now be able to login directly with a local user account. Restart your computer to check if it works.
Did you forget your password
The next time you log in to your Windows 10 computer, all you have to do is click ‘Sign in’ for the account. With the above steps, you will be able to access your computer without entering a password.
Whether you choose to do this is entirely up to you. If you ask us, we wouldn’t recommend doing this even if you have a personal computer.
