How to Delete Your Internet Search History

There are many reasons why you might want to delete your internet search history, some of which are extremely valid. Here’s how to do it.

First off, browser history and search history are two different things. This how-to guide will show you how to delete your search history and we will be working on a separate guide to delete your browser history in the very near future.

If you are signed in to your Google account, every search you make will be logged and stored in your Google Search history. Google can use this data to learn more about you as a person and to provide future search results and even ads based on what you’re looking for. However, it’s probably a good idea to delete your search history if you don’t want Google to judge you based on what you’re searching for.

I will explain how you can delete your Google Search history on your desktop or laptop computer and how to delete it on your mobile device.

Desktop or Laptops

To clear your Google Search history on your desktop or laptop, just follow these simple steps:

mobile devices

There are several ways to delete your Google Search history from a mobile device. You can open your mobile web browser and follow the same steps above, or you can do this via the Google Search app on iOS or Android. On Android, the process is exactly the same as the steps above. Simply type the above URL into the search bar in the Google Search app; you will do exactly what is shown above, but only on a smaller screen.

As for iOS users and Google Search app, just open the app and follow these steps:

How to Avoid it in the First Place

Now that you’ve cleared your search history, you probably don’t want Google to continue tracking your searches, and we’ve already shown you several ways to turn off search history once and for all.

However, another easy way to prevent Google from tracking your search history and linking it to your Google account is to use Incognito Mode or Private Browsing Mode in your preferred browser. This opens a new window that lets you log out of any of your accounts and never saves any search or browser history. It’s a great method to use if you don’t want to mess with the settings in your Google account.
