Bixby is Samsung’s second attempt at creating a virtual assistant for its smartphones, after S Voice, which is mediocre at best. To be honest, it’s safe to say that Bixby is a bold attempt with a completely revamped set of functionality, and it’s fully capable of competing against Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri. Quick commands are one of several features that Samsung’s Bixby assistant offers and is nothing short of impressive to say the least. Think of it as a custom command you can create and say the specific voice command so Bixby knows what function it needs to perform. It is quite useful when you want a short command to enable or disable certain features that lie deep in the settings. note: I created quick commands for Bixby on my Samsung Galaxy S8, but the process should be the same on the Galaxy Note 8 or any Samsung device that comes with Bixby.
Create Quick Command for Bixby
First of all, you have to Go to Bixby Home. This can be done pressing the dedicated Bixby button It is located on the left side of your Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ or Galaxy Note 8 smartphone. You can also visit the Bixby home at: swiping right from your home screen. To set up a quick command for Bixby without any hassle, carefully follow these steps:
- Once you are on the Bixby homepage, tap on it. ellipsis icon located in the upper right corner of your screen. Now, tap on “My Bixby”.
- On the My Bixby page, you’ll be able to set up a custom command by going to. Quick Commands section, as shown in the image below. Now, tap on “Make your own quick command”.
- Now, tap on “+ Add quick command” To open Bixby. You can say the command you want to use by holding the dedicated Bixby button. For example, I’m creating a quick command “I’m driving”. When you’re done with the command and satisfied, tap on it. “Save” to store the custom command.
- When you’re done, you’ll be back in the Quick commands menu. Here you can add the function you want Bixby to perform by tapping on it. “+ add Bixby command”. You can now search for functions based on your search query history or from a list of all the commands Bixby has to offer. To make things easier, you can even type in keywords and find the function you are looking for. Select required function when you finish finding it. When I say “I’m driving” I want to enable “Do not disturb” mode so I can choose the same option.
- Well now you just have to click on it “Completed” to save the quick command and you’re all set.
Once done, you’ll be able to tell Bixby the quick command and it will do the action you specify. For example, I can say “I’m driving” and Bixby will enable “Do not disturb” mode for me.

Get the Most Out of Bixby with Quick Commands
