How to Completely Disable Task View in Windows 10

The Task View feature in Windows 10 is a godsend for power users. It allows you to create multiple virtual desktops and separate work and personal life. But not everyone uses the Task View, and some get annoyed by it. Several ways to enter the Task View include keyboard shortcuts that can accidentally change the view and affect the workflow. Fortunately, there are ways to completely disable Task View in Windows.

If you’re not using Task View or have a different workflow, it’s a good idea to disable it. In this guide, we will discuss how to hide the Task View button in the Taskbar, disable it completely and not allow other Windows users to enable it.

Let’s start.

1. Disable Keyboard Shortcut for Task View

Pressing Windows key+Tab also opens Task View. The AutoHotKey application can be used to customize and define custom keyboard shortcuts and easily change how certain predefined shortcuts work.

2. Hide Task View Button in Taskbar

The Task View button appears in the Taskbar. It’s located next to the Search or Cortana button. If you disabled it, you won’t see it.

Right click on the Taskbar and deselect ‘Show Task View button’ to hide it in the Taskbar.

4. Disable/Hide Task View from Registry Editor

For some unlucky Windows users, the option to hide the Task View button in the Taskbar was missing. Other users wanted to go a step further and disable the Task View entirely instead of hiding it. The Registry Editor trick is also useful for administrators who want to restrict other users from accessing the Task View or virtual desktop.

However, we recommend that you make a backup of the Registry Keys before proceeding. These are system-level files and can break how the Windows operating system behaves permanently.

Stage 1: Press Windows key+S to open Windows Search and search for Registry Editor. open it.

It’s worth noting that GPE is only available for Windows Pro and Enterprise users, not Home users.
