There are four ways to add images to Google Docs on your computer.

Method 1: Drag and Drop

One of the easiest ways to add images to Google Docs is to use drag and drop. Open the Google Docs document and place your cursor where you want to insert the image. Then drag and drop the image from other apps into Google Docs.

Method 2: Copy Paste

Like the method above, you can use the traditional concept of copy-paste to add images to Google Docs. Copy the image and paste it into Google Docs using the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V respectively.

Method 3: Add Option

How to Place Text Next to Image in Google Docs

To put text next to or on the side of your image, you need to change the wrap style. Google Docs offers three wrapping styles:

  • Inline: The image is inserted like a text, that is, it is part of the text.
  • Wrapping: Text can be on either side of the image.
  • Search: The text is above or below the image.

Click once to select an alignment for the image and you will see various alignment options. Choose one.

How to Change Images in Google Docs on iOS and iPadOS

Tap the picture on iPhone and iPad. You will get the image replacement features like wrap style and borders in the dropdown bar. To move an image, tap on Cut and Paste where needed.

Unable to Add Image to Google Docs

If you can’t add images to Google Docs on Android and iOS/iPadOS, make sure you allow Google Docs to access the photos. To verify on Android, go to Settings > Apps > Google Docs > Permissions on the phone. Allow for photos. Similarly, on iPhone and iPad go to Settings > Google Docs > Photos.
