During the Made by Google event last week, where the Mountain View giant introduced a number of new products, the company also announced a new ‘Live Albums’ feature for Google Photos. The feature is finally rolling out to Android, iOS, and the web, so if you’re wondering how to create Live Albums in Google Photos, look no further.
What are Live Albums
First of all, what are Live Albums and why should you care? Basically, Live Albums are self-updating albums that you can create and release. So you can have your kids’ Live Album, and every time you click a new picture of your kid, Google Photos will automatically add the photo to the Live Album.
All of this is done by Google’s AI – the same AI we’ve seen in action over the past few years when it automatically tags people whose pictures you click on. Live Albums are kind of an extension of this capability, and they can be really useful.
Why are you asking? Take a look, let’s say you have a child and you like to share your child’s photos with your parents via Google Photos. With Live Albums, you don’t have to worry about manually sharing new photos; Share the Live Album with your parents and it will be automatically updated every time you click a new picture of your child. Isn’t it easy?
How to Create Live Albums on Android, iOS and Web
Creating live albums is actually pretty easy, and the method is similar (no pun intended) across all three platforms where Live Albums are currently live. Here’s how to create a live album:

- Open Google Photos and go to the Albums tab. Tap on ‘ herenew album.’
- Give your album a title and tap ‘.Automatically add photos of people and pets.’ Select the people or pets you want to automatically add to the Live Album.

- Next, tap on ‘Hungry’ in the upper right corner. Your album is now ready, you can tap the share icon to share it with your friends and family.

Create Live Albums on iOS
The method of creating Live Albums on an iOS device remains pretty much the same as on Android. To create a Live Album, simply follow the steps below:
- Open Google Photos and go to the Albums tab. Here, tap on ‘new album.’

- Give your album a title and tap ‘.Automatically add photos of people and pets.’ Select the people or pets you want to automatically add to the Live Album.

- Next, tap on ‘Hungry‘ in the upper right corner. Your album is now ready, you can tap the share icon to share it with your friends and family.

Create Live Albums on the Web
To create a Live Album on the web, simply follow these steps:

- Here, click ‘New album.’

- Give your album a name and click ‘Automatically add photos of people and pets.‘

- Select the people or pets you want to automatically add to the album, then click ‘Hungry.’

That’s it, your album has been created and you can share it with your friends and family.
Easy Photo Sharing with Live Albums
Live Albums are definitely a great new feature in the Google Photos app. While the company is touting these as a feature that will make the upcoming Google Home Hub’s photo frame feature more useful and dynamic, Live Albums are obviously great for automatically sharing new photos of specific people and pets with friends and family. manually select and share photos.
Now that Live Albums are here, create your own Live Albums to share with friends and family or to make the Google Home Hub, which by the way looks like a really interesting device.
