Google has officially announced Android 11, and the new operating system is already rolling out to Pixel phones. In honor of the release, Google has created a sculpture that you can view in augmented reality on any Android phone. Dave Burke, Android’s vice president of engineering, tweeted a picture of the virtual sculpture this afternoon.
Android 11 starts rolling out today! We are incredibly proud of our team for everything they do, especially what 2020 has to offer us.https://t.co/q6ppGqDWVC pic.twitter.com/vJCW7RDS5B

Android traditionally puts a physical statue in Mountain View for each release – it was a huge number 10 signed by the Android team last year. 11 is the first Android statue to be fully in AR, and that makes sense since COVID-19 has put a brake on many people’s travel plans. It also comes with some fun effects – the Android logo will appear in various places around the statue when you see it, and there’s a red velvet cake recipe on the side.
