Tips to Fix Apple AirTag Precision Finding Not Working Issue
In typical Apple fashion, the company has yet to reveal details about the AirTag range. Considering that the maximum Bluetooth range is about 100 meters, we guess that a misplaced AirTag should be traceable to at least that distance. That’s why you should keep this range of AirTag in mind when trying to find a tagged item like your bag, wallet, and more. Enough talk, let’s move on to the troubleshooting guide!
1. Make Sure Ultra Broadband Technology Is Not Restricted In Your Country
The U1 (also known as UWB, ultra-wideband, and ultraband) chip is the heart of AirTag’s Precision Discovery feature. Using ultra-wideband technology, the U1 chip can pinpoint and communicate with other U1-equipped devices such as the iPhone 11 and 12. Unfortunately, ultra-wideband technology, blocked in some countries and regions due to security concerns.
For starters, ultra-wideband is a very low-energy radio technology for short-range, high-bandwidth communications. Additionally, it also improves spatial awareness, which plays a vital role in helping AirDrop work more efficiently. To be more precise, you should look at: U1 chip as GPS on the scale of your living room. Ultra-broadband technology, which is subject to international regulatory requirements, has been disabled in some places.
Therefore, the first thing you should do is to make sure that ultra-broadband technology is not blocked in your country. List of countries/regions where Ultra Broadband is not supported on iPhone:

2. Make Sure U1 Chip Is Enabled On Your iPhone
As outlined above, the ultra-wideband chip plays a vital role in making Precision Discovery work on iPhones. So you should make sure that the U1 chip is enabled on your supported iPhone. We recently wrote a guide on how to disable the ultra-wideband chip, but it shows the steps you need to follow to get to the settings.
go to Settings app on your iPhone. Next, tap on Privacy pick and choose Location Services. Next, scroll down and select System services. Finally, the transition Network and Wireless opens.
3. AirTag “Weak Signal” Error: Reset Wi-Fi/Cellular/Bluetooth Connection
A handful of users reported that the AirTag signal was too weak to allow them to locate nearby devices even if they were within 100 meters of range. Also, the weak AirTag signal prevents them from using the disappointing Sensitive Find feature.
AirTag requires Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth connections to be enabled on your iPhone. Therefore, make sure they are turned on. Follow the steps below if AirTag Precision Finding is not working even after enabling these options.
Turn off Wi-Fi, cellular and Bluetooth first (Settings app -> Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & Mobile Data). After that restart your smartphone and then turn on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Mobile Data once again. Then check if the AirTag’s signal is back to normal.
If your AirTag’s signal still doesn’t seem to work, I would recommend resetting the network settings to fix network related issues. To do this, go to Settings -> General. Next, scroll down and select Resetnext “Network Settings Reset” Select and enter your device password. Finally, tap on the “Reset Network Settings” option that pops up to confirm the action.
If AirTag Precision Finding is not working due to a network related issue, it should now work as intended.
4. Hard Reset Your iPhone
Since a hard reset usually helps fix random iOS issues, we should give it a shot as well. To do this, press the volume up button and then quickly press the volume down button. After that, press and hold the power button until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears on the screen.
5. Toggle Location Services On/Off
If Apple AirTag Precision Finding continues to misbehave, try turning Location Services off and on on your iPhone. Refreshing Location Services may fix Sensitive Discovery.

Now, restart your iPhone. Press and hold the volume up/down button and power button at the same time. Then drag the power off slider to turn the device off. After that, hold the power button to restart your iPhone and follow the steps above to enable “Location Services” once again.
6. Allow Location Access for Find My
It goes without saying, but it’s worth noting that the Find My app must have full access to your location for it to work properly. More importantly, you must also allow it to use your Precise Location. Otherwise, it will continue to struggle, and so will AirTag.
To enable this feature, go to: Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services. Now scroll down and click “Find My” option. Next, select While using the applicationMake sure you have turned on and Exact Location change.
7. Factory Reset Your AirTag
If you haven’t yet found a fix for Precision Finding not working with your AirTag, go to Factory Reset. It is one of the best AirTag tips and tricks especially when dealing with complex issues. While factory reset might seem like a radical solution, it did help fix the annoying tracking issue with product trackers.
To reset Apple AirTag, Find My application on your iPhone. After that, tap on Items tab at the bottom and select the AirTag you want to reset. Next, swipe up to bring up the AirTag settings. Here, tap on remove item choice.
Now, a popup will appear, “This item is linked to your Apple ID. Removing this item will allow it to be activated and used by another person.” Tap on To pick up to confirm the action
After resetting your AirTag, reconnect it to your iPhone. Hold the AirTag next to your iPhone and then To connect The option that appears on the screen. This is pretty easy, right?
8. Update Your iPhone’s Software
