The Lost Ark island guide for all genres and the best islands to get started

There are a lot of Lost Ark islands. Islands full of loot and home to adorable panda bears. But with almost a hundred islands in total, starting your Lost Ark island adventures can be a bit overwhelming. Which ones to visit first? And once it’s there, what do you do?

To help you master island jumping, here’s everything you need to know about the best Lost Ark islands, Island Souls, and Islands of Adventure.

What are the lost Ark islands?

You get a ship after completing the main questline on the first continent in Lost Ark. From that moment on, you are free to roam the seas as you wish. However, it is recommended that you do the blue World Quest first in Tortoyk (northeast of Luterra) before eagerly sailing to the nearest island. This will help you level up to item 250, which is the recommended item level for the first Lost Ark islands.

When ready, hover over the islands on the map to see if you have the recommended item level, number of Mokoko Seeds, battle type (PvE or PvP), and Island Soul. You will also see the entrance time to the island. Based on this, we can roughly divide the islands of the Lost Ark into four types:

  • Permanent PvE islands. The most common type; only visit them when you feel like it.
  • Time-limited islands. You can only access these islands at certain times. Hover over the name of the island to see the schedule.
  • PvP islands. They can either be used permanently or are timed, but there is always PvP combat on these islands. Recognize them by the crossed sword icon on the map.
  • Adventure islands. Special collaboration events that only appear a few times a day.

Lost Ark island events

So you came to the first small island. What is it now? While each Lost Ark island is unique, they usually unlock one or more of the following events:

  • Complete the missions. Sometimes it’s an obvious exclamation point on the map, but quests can also be hidden.
  • Visit traders and NPCs. Many islands are home to merchants and NPCs. The latter comes with its own unique rewards, so don’t leave without taking a look.
  • Gather Mokoko Seeds. Yes, you’ll find little vagrants on the Lost Ark islands too. Because the maps are small, there are usually two to five Seeds per island.
  • Join the PvP battle. As mentioned, some islands are open to PvP.
  • Gather Island Spirit. This is the reward you will receive for ‘completing’ a nomination. Sometimes this means increasing Rapport with a local NPC, other times you need to complete a questline or do a PvP challenge.

Lost Ark Island Spirits

Island Souls (also known as Island Tokens) are the main reward for completing an island challenge. You can learn more about the nature of these challenges by talking to Opher, located on Lonely Island (right side of the map) northwest of Pleccia. After opening the dialog, hover over the list with Island Souls to find the category (like ‘chest’, ‘adventure quest’ or ‘Rapport’).

Opher is also the NPC you can talk to if you want to exchange your Island Spirits for rewards. Sacrifice the Island Spirits first to the statue on the beach (a little further east) and then talk to Opher to get the following items:

  • expressions
  • Stat and skill boost potions
  • masterpiece collections
  • Legendary castle items
  • Compass and compass upgrades
  • Hidden Maps
  • Tortoise mount and tortoise ship skin

Lost Ark Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure is a daily endgame event. To find one, open Procyon’s Compass and click the ‘view notification info’ button. You will see when and where the next Islands of Adventure will appear. You can also see the recommended item level and expected rewards.

Sail to Adventure Island and wait for access. You can’t see the island yet, but you’ll know you’re in the right place when you see a whirlpool where a group of other boats clump together. When Adventure Island appears, right click to enter. The collaboration task starts automatically. Just follow the target and don’t hesitate to ask for help in chat if the mission is not clear.

The best islands in the Lost Ark: the starting route

Ultimately we recommend visiting each Lost Ark island, but you may want to start with the easiest and most rewarding ones first. The islands on this list are either easy to complete, very satisfying, filled with pandas and turtles, or are part of a larger, important questline.

  • Deserted island. We’ve mentioned him a few times so far, but to keep this list complete: be sure to visit Opher on the Lonely Island. You’ll be able to exchange your Island Spirits with awesome turtle skins and more. You’ll also get a free Island Spirit just by talking to Opher.
  • Golden Wave Island. An island full of loot chests. Stop by if you want a lot (Pirate Coins, card packs, green engravings) with very little effort.
  • Panda Island. If you love pandas, do not pass by this island. Apart from that, there’s a relatively short yellow and purple questline that rewards you with plenty of Silver, Weapon and Armor Crystals, Harmony Fragments, and Harmony Leap Stones.
  • Turtle Island. Completing the full questline rewards you not only with Island Spirit and precious Gem Coral, but also with a Turtle mount. You can even choose the color.
  • Peace Island. In just a few minutes you will receive a beautiful stack of Weapon and Armor Crystals. On top of that, you’ll get a Elixir of Skill by completing the Power Stone quest, which requires replaying the Morai Ruins and Tortoyk’s Heart dungeons.
  • Peyto, Glacier Island, Lullaby Island and Dreamgull Island. Although technically a boat, visit Peyto and do island quests. Make sure you complete the yellow quest that rewards an emote, and also get the Resonance Song from Treasure Hunter Igran (you’ll need this for other islands). Then go to Glacier Island and continue the quest chain. After that go to Lullaby Island, do the quests again and get Forest’s Minuet song. Use the latter to complete Dreamgull Island. All of this will take some time, but you’ll eventually get four Island Spirits and a stack of upgrade materials.

Have fun on your island hopping adventure in Lost Ark!
