After Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck also adopts an OLED display
As the name suggests, the most notable improvement of the Steam Deck OLED is its screen. The original Steam Deck featured a 7-inch 800p LCD display clocked at 60 Hz. a larger 7.4-inch OLED display located in the same area; This slightly reduces the black edges around the tile.
This new screen works at: same definitionbut now he enjoys an advantage 90Hz refresh rate. This is less than rivals like ASUS’ ROG Ally, but it’s a welcome improvement that will please gamers. It’s also HDR, covering 110% of the P3 color space with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits (the old model peaked at around 400 nits).
Steam Deck OLED promises to be a little more powerful
Although the OLED display is the star of the show, Valve is making some improvements to other components as well. Steam Deck OLED now supported by 6nm APUUnlike the previous model’s 7nm APU. Powered by new APU faster RAM (6400 MT/s)together’A cooling system declared to be more efficientThanks to a larger fan and improved thermal components. For now we have no idea what real winnings we can expect in the game.
In terms of autonomy, the console promises to be more durable, especially thanks to the OLED screen, the new processor and, above all, a much larger battery. Now its a 50 Wh capacity, compared to 40 Whr in the original version. According to Valve, the combination of these changes leads to the following results: 30% to 50% increase in autonomythis gives you ” 3 to 12 hours of gameplay “, contrary” 2 to 8 hours ” previously.
