These Pokemon Go Therian Forme Thundurus Raid counters will help you catch one of the three legends of nature from the Unova region. It’s returning to Pokemon Go Raids, but instead of the regular Incarnate Forme, Legendary will appear in Therian Forme for Pokemon Go.
Similar to Tornadus and Therian Forme, Thundurus will look slightly different and have a different set of moves than the Incarnate Forme. Due to the new set of moves, the responses against this Thundurus will be slightly different than if you were receiving his Incarnated Form.
Therian Forme Thundurus returns to Raids from Tuesday, April 5th to Tuesday, April 12th, so trainers have weaknesses to fight back and capture as many as possible.
But don’t worry, we’ve compiled this guide to help trainers find the best bets against Therian Forme Thundurus.
Pokemon Go Therian Forme Thundurus raid counters
Therian Forme Thundurus, like the Incarnate Forme, is an Electric Flying type Pokemon. This unique spell makes him weak against only two types: Rock and Ice.
Fortunately, there are two Mega Pokemon that can help trainers take down Therian Forme Thundurus more easily, but choosing them is a double-edged sword.
Mega Aerodactyl is the only Rock-type Mega in Pokemon Go so far. This specialization makes it the first Pokemon to use Rock-type moves, as it can also boost your and others’ teams’ moves. However, Mega Aerodactyl is weak against Electric-type attacks, something Therian Forme Thundurus will encounter in abundance.
Mega Abomasnow is the only Ice-type Mega in Pokemon Go so far and can overcome Therian Forme Thundurus’ Ice weakness and increase your team’s movements. Mega Abomasnow’s Grass spell makes her resistant to Electric-type attacks, but Therian Forme Thundurus will have ways to damage her, but we’ll get into that in the section below.
Trainers looking for non-mega options should look into the basics of Rock-type Pokemon. Tyranitar, Rhyperior, Rampardos, and Gigalith are great options to take on Thundurus. However, there will be ways to harm him with at least one of Legendary’s moves.
Staples like Mamoswine, Weavile, and Galarian Darmanitran are easy choices for trainers looking to bring in a number of Ice types.
Here is a list of options trainers can bring into battle against Therian Forme Thundurus.

| Mega Aerodactyl | Rock Throw and Rock Slide |
| Mega Abomasnow | Powder Snow and Air Cannon (Ice) |
| cruel | Smack Down and Stone Edge |
| mamoswine | Powder Snow and Avalanche |
| rhyperior | Smack Down and Rock Wrecker |
| Rampardos | Smack Down and Rock Slide |

Therian Forme Thunurus move set
Interestingly enough, Therian Forme Thundurus does not have the Flying-type moves it can use, despite having this type. This is the benefit any Turf or Fighting type trainer wants to bring into battle. However, Therian Forme Thundurus, like many other Legendary, will have a variety of different moves.
Trainers need to be aware of the Volt Switch for their Rapid Attack. This move will receive a STAB bonus and deal good damage to all Pokemon that are not Grass, Dragon, Electric, or Earth type. Bite is Therian Forme Thundurus’ other Quick Attack option and doesn’t do Legendary much. In fact, Pokemon will resist this attack, as will Weavile and Tyranitar.
It is his Charged Attacks that can turn the tide of battle in Thundurus’ favour. Thunder and Thunderbolt are two Electric-type attacks he can use, so it’s the same as Volt Switch, which Pokemon resist and do well against. Sludge Wave is a Poison type move that Rock types will resist. While rock-type teams benefit Thundurus having this move, Mega Abomasnow is actually weak against it.
Focus Blast is the final Charged Attack option. This Martial-type move will actually deal super-effective damage against Ice and Rock types. If you fight a Thundurus with this move, you may be in for a long fight. However, since there is a 25 percent chance, trainers still need to go into battle with a Rock or Ice type team.
Here are the full motion set possibilities for Therian Forme Thundurus.
| Fast attack | Charged Attack |
|---|---|
| Bite | mud wave |
| Volt Switch | Thunder |
| Focus Burst | |
| Lightning |
