The hacker known as SpectreDev is actually jailbreak Sony’s newest console and gives us proof by image. While the video wasn’t very impressive at first, it was noticed by Sony executives who confirmed that the jailbreak was indeed genuine. By the hacker’s own admission, many points still need to be fixed and the jailbreak is far from accessible to the general public.
Of course, console manufacturers Totally against jailbreak from their devices. First of all for control reasons: they want to offer a uniform experience to all their customers and of course for economic reasons. While most pirates claim that jailbreaking allows them to customize their consoles, often the way to download pirated games is a huge waste of revenue for game publishers and Sony.

Hacker exploited a flaw in cBases accessing the Internet using the IPv6 protocol to upload your own code. The latter allows access to settings normally reserved for developers, i.e. console debugging settings. The technique used by SpectreDev to jailbreak the PlayStation 5 is too detailed to be repeated by casual gamers. It is very unstable and only works with firmware version 4.03 on consoles with internet access.

A full jailbreak may not be too far off when we see how quickly jailbreakers circumvent the security measures implemented by Sony. Will people find creative uses for the PS5 jailbreak or is it just to get free games? As a reminder, PlayStation 5 was hacked by a Google engineer already in November 2021. Managed to run homebrew games on Sony console. If he hadn’t given any details about the techniques used at the time, he did offer proof: a jailbreak of the PlayStation 5 is possible.
