The latest simulation game from Nintendo“Animal Crossing: New Horizons”, has a real-time clock that limits each player’s playing time. Therefore, every hour is valuable and losing your progress in the game can be terrible news.
With this in mind, the company reassured players by announcing that progress backups to the cloud were now available. This prevents possible game losses due to a broken console, minimizing any risks.
However, one player ended up losing her progress in the game and it went viral on the internet. Learn more about the case as you read on.
Player lost 500 hours of progress in ‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’
In order for players to perform the backups described above, a subscription to a Nintendo Switch Online service is required.
This is what happened to a player with more than 500 hours of gameplay, who lost all her progress after an update to the game itself.
Jessica, codenamed Jeskask8s on the app, explained, through a post on her TikTok, that when taking her Nintendo Switch to work, the game required an update, which was done by the player.
What she didn’t expect was that all her achievements would be deleted forever. Check out the video:

Nintendo’s response
Jeskask8s, who was extremely unhappy with what happened, immediately called the company to understand how this happened. However, the response could not have been more discouraging for her.
The company’s customer service informed that the player had not done the backup to the cloud correctly, resulting in the loss of all progress within the game.
Thus, Jeskask8s said goodbye to all his acquired items, villagers and his beloved islands, earned with hours and hours of gameplay.
It is not known for sure what happened to the player’s islands, but this story can serve as a reminder to all “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” players. It is crucial that they check that all data has been loaded correctly.
After all, losing hundreds of hours of progress in one of your favorite games can cause a lot of stress and headaches.
