Minecraft The Wild update details, biomes, blocks, Guardian and more

The Minecraft The Wild update is here, and everyone is rightfully excited about what’s in it. Especially since it contains items originally designed for the second The Caves & Cliffs Update. There are also a number of completely new features that have never been seen before in Minecraft. First announced on the Minecraft Live show, the update is finally live on all associated platforms for Bedrock and Java Editions of Minecraft. If you want to speed things up, here’s everything we know about the Minecraft The Wild update.

What’s new in the Minecraft The Wild update

All sorts of new goodies are coming to the game with the Minecraft The Wild update, including several fresh biomes to explore, from lush Mangrove swamps to spooky underground cities. New block types unlock extra crafting and building options, while additional animals provide more wildlife to populate your worlds. But be careful, there is a terrifying new mob lurking underground waiting to come out and hunt you down.

New Minecraft Deep Dark Biome

To kick off our Minecraft The Wild update, we dig deeper into the underground to take a look at the Deep Dark Biome. Below you will find ancient cities to explore that are absolutely eerie and have many secrets hidden in the shadows. Be brave and adventure into the dark, for there is unique loot to be found there.

Minecraft Sculk Block

In the shadowy world of Deep Dark, you’ll find a new material called Sculk, as well as the Sculk Catalyst block, which causes more Sculk to spawn when mobs are killed nearby. There’s also the Sculk Shrieker block, which when activated causes an eerie scream and a flickering darkness over the area.

Minecraft Guardians

But the scariest thing about this new area of Minecraft 1.19 is the presence of the Guardians, giant mobs coming out of the ground. You can try to sneak past them in the dark when they emerge, but they have a keen sense of smell and will sniff you out if you get too close. Stay away from the Guardians as you search for hidden treasures, as if they are catching you, this could quickly be the end of your adventure.

Minecraft Mangroves

There are a few more biomes to explore in the Minecraft The Wild update, including a birch forest and a swamp filled with Mangrove trees. Mangroves can grow in water, their roots form into blocks that can spread out to create passages under them, and cutting them will give you a new type of Mangrove wood.

Minecraft Mud blocks and Clay blocks

Swamp also introduces new block types, as you can add water to Dirt blocks to create Mud blocks, and by placing a Mud block on top of a Dripping Stone, you can drain the moisture to eventually create a Clay block. You will also be able to craft Mud Bricks to give your buildings a new look.

Minecraft Boat with Chest

If you want to explore the swamp or any other area where there really is plenty of water in Minecraft 1.19, the new boat with a crate might be just what you need. This boat lets you travel rivers and lakes with a handy chest on the boat so you can gather plenty of resources to your heart’s content without worrying about where to store everything.

Minecraft Frogs and Tadpoles

Finally for the Minecraft The Wild update, there are new animals you can meet in your adventures – Minecraft Frogs, which splash near the water, happily jump on the ground, and occasionally fall from a lotus leaf. Unlike other animals that grow from smaller versions of themselves, these Frogs actually develop from Tadpoles that float in water, which can be caught in a bucket and taken to different locations.

There are three types of Frogs that can evolve in Minecraft 1.19 depending on the temperature of the biome they grow in. Besides Normal Frogs, a cold biome will spawn Snowy Frogs, while a warm biome will spawn Tropical Frogs.
