How to install Minecraft Forge
If you want to install Minecraft Forge, you must be playing the Java version of Minecraft on PC or Mac. If you want mods on other platforms, you don’t use Forge and you should look for add-ons that will give you direct access to a limited number of mods. Minecraft Forge is a PC/Mac only deal and the full process is as follows:

Choose your Minecraft Forge download

You may receive a message that the file may harm your computer, but you can ignore this warning assuming you downloaded the official Forge file from the website. If you’re downloading from somewhere else… don’t.
Download Java if you need it
If you already have Java installed, your Minecraft Forge download will have a Java icon and double-click on it and it will install, in which case you can proceed.
If not and your Forge download looks like a blank or broken icon, download java and install it. Probably best to reboot your machine once to make sure everything is in place. Once Java is installed, your Forge download should have an icon and you can click on it and install it.
Choose Forge installation in Minecraft
After installing Minecraft Forge, you will be able to choose it as the installation. To do this, open the Minecraft Launcher, select Installations and you should see the Minecraft Forge option that you have downloaded and installed. Select to start playing. You will be taken to a page with a button that says ‘Open Mods Folder’. This will open the folder where you put the mods you want to play, and going that route is probably the fastest and easiest way to find it.
