The Dying Light 2 True Friends side-quest is one of two expeditions where you’ll search for Nerys’ missing children, Scott and Moe, who have escaped from the Bazaar. The resulting quest will have you look around to find the children of Nerys and head to the infected city to find them. Clearly in Dying Light 2’s world filled with undead monsters and warring factions, anyone who disappears for a while is a bad thing, which is where your heroic acts come into play. So let’s take a look at the Dying Light 2 True Friends side quest, the selections, and where Scott and Moe went.

Dying Light 2 true friend step by step
The first phase of the Dying Light 2 True Friends quest has you looking for kids around the Bazaar. Scott or Moe are nowhere to be seen and there is no one to talk to at first, which can be confusing. But there is one person who can help: Dominik. Outside the Bazaar, next door with a pumpkin patch is a small, easy-to-miss kid – you’ll find him wearing a red hat in the back.
Talk to Dominik and he will be obsessed with a lost stray dog named Buddy. Keep talking to him and change the subject to Scott and Moe, he will eventually mention that the missing children may be around King William XI Road.
Go to that area and look for the green military building below. You’ll know you’re in the right area because the target will decide to look for the screams you may hear as you get closer. When you find the building and go to open the door, Scott will jump out and say that Moe is inside with the dog and that you have to come in and rescue him.
The inside of the building is hollow, so you’ll have to climb to get to Moe. When you get there you’ll need to talk to him to find out what happened. There’s really nothing you can impress here: the result will be the same, so pick the tone you think is appropriate to move things forward. Eventually, you will discover the dog named Buddy, who was fatally injured while protecting the children from the Infected. This will lead to the first big decision you have to make…
Drop the dog or save it from its misery in Dying Light 2 True Friends
There are no good answers here so pick the right one, the dog is sadly done either way. Once you have made your choice, you will have to fight before returning to the Bazaar.
Latest Dying Light 2 True Friend selection
The Dying Light 2 True Friend selections appearing at the end seem to make sense, especially given the branching arrow attached to the quest, but the story ends there. All choices are about changing who it hurts, how much it hurts, and whether or not you really want to be honest.
Here’s how to play the different options:
- Buddy died saving Scott and Moe: It’s kind of a ‘good answer’. Scott, Moe and Dominik are out of trouble, Nerys is grateful and everyone somehow walks away.
- Scott and Moe lied to you: This is the honest answer to tell Dominik what really happened to his canine friend. Although it is true, everyone is sad and Nerys is not happy.
- Scott and Moe will tell you everything: The answer ‘Take care of your mess yourself’ is actually probably the best outcome. It’s very upsetting to force Scott and Moe to take ownership, but Nerys is glad you let them take charge.
And that’s the end of Dying Light 2 True Friends Quest. You may encounter Nerys and his problematic offspring later, but for now, this quest is complete.
