The platform of Twitchknown for enabling live game broadcasts, recently implemented some changes to its advertising policy. These changes generated surprise and dissatisfaction among players, as they directly affected the way sponsor advertisements should be made.
Among these is the restriction on displaying banners or on-screen ads during live broadcasts. This means that streamers can no longer display visual advertisements, which many used to do while broadcasting.
However, that’s not all, as the display of audio during the broadcast has also been banned. In other words, streamers can no longer play jingles or any other audio related to advertising.
And now, what will be allowed?
Despite the changes, Twitch has offered some alternatives for advertising sponsors. The first option is to place the company’s products in the background, that is, to make them visible during a broadcast. Another alternative is to play games from a brand that is a sponsor.
Additionally, streamers can perform unboxings during their live streams, showing and commenting on the products they received. They are also allowed to display brand panels on their profile.
Despite these available options, it is important to note that changes to Twitch’s advertising rules have harmed many users, including those just starting out and those with a medium-sized following.
Players’ dissatisfaction with Twitch’s new decisions is understandable, since advertising can benefit gamers’ work. However, we cannot deny that Twitch’s advertising policy changes have had some impact.
Streamers revolt
Championships involving “CS:GO”, “League of Legends”, “Valorant” and many others may also be affected after the change in permission to advertise using videos made during broadcasts.
Finally, after the announcement of all the changes, some streamers decided to speak out on social media, including Allan “Intern”. Read his comment below:
