Amazonas police officers almost received an unusual benefit: 18 PS5 consoles and more

However, a decision by the state government has attracted attention: the investment in the entertainment of its cops.

In this scenario, the Amazonas Public Security Secretariat surprised by announcing a program aimed at improving the quality of life at work for police officers.

This innovative project includes a series of unexpected benefits.

The program details

The program consists of providing 18 PS5 consoles, 96 bean bag chairs, 18 massage chairs and 18 coffee machines with 12 drink options.

Military Police Colonel Anézio Brito de Paiva, who is executive secretary of the Amazonas Public Security Secretariat, signed a term of reference at the end of September.

However, after several criticisms and due to the repercussion of the case, the bid was cancelled, as we report here.

This term provided for the bidding of unusual items, all in favor of the “quality of work life” of police officers.

The terms of reference even established the inclusion of a PS Plus subscription with five years of game availability for each console PS5.

This demonstrates the emphasis placed on entertainment as a fundamental part of the initiative to improve the quality of life of police officers.

Improvements to the work environment

The request aimed to create the QWL (Quality of Life at Work) Program in the state’s Public Security Secretariat units with the aim of improving working environments and the health of employees.

Beyond the consolesthe program included six ping pong tables, 18 TVs, rectangular tables, swivel chairs, cabinets and other items.

The bidding would take place in an auction format for the lowest price and the contract will have an initial term of 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

The Secretariat emphasized that this initiative aims to promote a healthy work environment, contributing to the mental health of police officers, considering the stressful nature of police activity.

It is important to highlight that the resources for this program were allocated from the National Public Security Fund to the State Public Security Fund, with the condition that they be allocated exclusively to projects aimed at the well-being of civil servants.

The initiative to provide PS5 consoles, PS Plus subscriptions and other unusual benefits for police officers in Amazonas were surprising, especially given the environmental challenges faced by the state.

The measure reflected the government’s understanding of the difficulties faced by police officers, as well as its effort to invest in initiatives that make the work environment more pleasant and pay attention to the mental health of employees.
