An unexpected participation
On Tuesday (11/21), Sony Pictures surprised fans by announcing, through an emotional video, the participation of Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan in the next chapter of the iconic ‘Karate Kid’ saga.
The news generated excitement, reaffirming the relevance of the franchise. However, even with these big names, the developers are still committed to finding the ideal protagonist to integrate this timeless narrative.
The challenge of choosing someone worthy of the legacy persists, promising to keep expectations high among fans eager for another exciting episode in the history of ‘Karate Kid‘.
Although it doesn’t yet have an official name, the new film in the franchise is in the hands of Jonathan Entwistle, responsible for ‘I’m Not Okay with This’. It already has a release date, scheduled for December 13, 2024.
The search for a new protagonist
Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan, in the recent video released by Sony Pictures, announced not only their participation in ‘Karate Kid’, but also revealed that they are looking for the new protagonist.
Encouraging candidates to join the saga, they stated that anyone could be chosen as long as they met the essential qualifications. The ideal candidate must be of Chinese descent and between the ages of 15 and 17 to play Li Fong.
The character is described as skilled in martial artssmart, messy and cunning. Anyone who believes they possess these qualifications should submit a video to audition.
