Previously, using Spotify without a subscription was relatively annoying but perfectly manageable. If you endured a few commercial breaks here and there, it was possible to listen to an entire album with the songs in order and many other features. Unfortunately, Spotify is not so generous anymore and using its platform for free has become a real obstacle course.
Unfortunately, things are not getting better. Spotify is slowly removing some previously free features by requiring users to sign up for a subscription before they can find them again. Last September, the platform dedicated the app to lyrics functionality. However, the fact that only a few users were later affected indicates that the operation is still in the testing phase.
Spotify now wants you to pay to see the lyrics of a song
So we can hope that things will stay there. But that means not knowing the streaming service. Recently, some disgruntled users on Reddit complained that their access to the lyrics of the songs was cut off. Needless to say, they have no subscription to the platform. In other words, everything indicates that the withdrawal of this functionality has become global.
If you haven’t subscribed to Spotify (yet?), it’s a safe bet that you only have a few days at most before you run out of lyrics. Spotify is cutting off material years after it became available for free. Add to that the 6 song skipping per hour and the mandatory random playback limit, and it starts to make a lot of sense. Especially if the competitor offers the same features for free…
