This year, Roku launched its 4K version of the device that turns any TV into a smart TVavailable for R$399.
While maintaining the simplicity of the Express line, known for its Full-HD resolution, the product offers four times better image quality, especially noticeable on screens above 50 inches.

4K and HDR details
The novelty lies in the ability to enjoy series and films on services streaming with stunning resolution thanks to compatibility with 4K HDR10 and HDR10+ technologies.
This feature provides greater detail and color depth on the screen, taking the visual experience to a new level.
However, it is crucial to have a 4K TV and corresponding content to take full advantage of these benefits, something that is increasingly common on platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+HBO Max and Apple TV+ (for subscribers of the R$55.90 plan).
Furthermore, the minimum recommended internet speed is 30 Mbps, which ensures smooth and high-quality playback.
The quad-core processor and dual-band Wi-Fi option are also positive points, speeding up operations and reducing crashes.
It is worth mentioning that the Roku platform is available on AOC, Philco, Semp TVs and on some selected models from the TCL 2022 line.
Negative points and technical highlights
However, some aspects may disappoint consumers. The absence of an app Star+ It’s notable, especially for sports fans, as the service streams games from the Copa Libertadores and European championships. Roku doesn’t have a release date for this app yet.
Another point to consider is the limitation of voice commands to the mobile app. Unlike more affordable models from other brands, such as the Fire TV Stick 4K, which already integrate this function directly into the remote control.
According to Luís Bianchi, Roku representative, the launch of the Express 4K model took a little longer due to the details involved in local manufacturing in Manaus, which differs from the process of other brands.
At the event held in São Paulo, Marcelo Souza, director of technology for Digital Products at Globo, announced the broadcast of live games from the Brazilian Championship in 4K on Globoplay.
This initiative, which starts on April 15, will offer at least one match per week in this resolution for subscribers of the plan with live channels, costing R$42.90.
