Which countries were affected by the price cuts?
According to the Wall Street Journal, countries that will benefit from discounted subscription fees are in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia. Discounts are not the same amount or percentage in all countries.however, in some markets the price reduction may be half the monthly subscription cost.
Discounts for the basic formula are between 20% and 60% depending on the country, and not all subscriptions have always been affected by price reductions. For example, in the Philippines, the Premium formula that allows you to watch your TV shows in 4K on 4 devices at the same time does not seem to benefit from any price changes.
According to research and analytics firm Ampere Analysis, the price drop affects more than 4% of Netflix’s subscriber base, or more than 10 million people. Netflix shares fell more than 3% after price cuts were announced. At the moment, we don’t know if Netflix plans to expand these price cuts to other countries, especially France, but this possibility cannot be ruled out. It would be normal if the new measures against account sharing would allow Netflix to lower the prices of its formulas, which have become a bit expensive for single users.
