The license for the anime adaptation of the one-shot ‘Monsters: Ippaku Sanjō Hiryuu Jigoku’, created by none other than Eiichiro Oda, has been secured by the streaming service.

Eiichiro Oda created ‘Monsters: Ippaku Sanjō Hiryuu Jigoku’ as part of a manga contest called the ’70th Grand Prix’.
The contest was held in 1992 by Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, the same magazine that later serialized his most famous work, ‘One Piece’.
The one-shot was published in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1994, when Oda was still a budding manga artist.
‘Monsters’ features some peculiar characteristics, including a darker tone compared to the lighter, more adventurous style later associated with ‘One Piece‘.
The story centers on a character named Ryuma, who was later reused by Oda as a supporting character in the ‘One Piece’ series itself.
