Clearly, the bad news continues regarding the access included in Disney+ across Canal+’s various offerings. A few days ago, we learned that Disney+ will be separated from the various Canal+ packages that the platform is available with starting January 1, 2025. Therefore, Max will replace the on-demand video streaming service in these packages.
Now we have received another piece of information that will not please Canal+ subscribers. The encrypted channel states in an email to its customers and on its official website that its new subscribers, as well as its existing subscribers, will now be able to access Disney Standard with ads and enjoy Disney+ without ads until now. This downgrade will be effective July 1, 2024 and will not result in any price changes to your subscription.
Ads will run on Disney+ for six months before the service disappears
If you are also affected by this change and you have movies and series to watch on Disney + (for example, Star Wars: The Acolyte is currently airing), we can only invite you to watch it from the end of June. Within a few days the experience will deteriorate and you will have to endure ads before your program starts and while it is playing.
Taking Netflix as an example, Disney+ launched its advertising-inclusive offer for €5.99 per month last November. According to the American group, with this formula we find an average of around four minutes of advertising screens per hour. Disney+ Standard is billed at €8.99 per month (or €89.90 per year) and offers downloads on 10 devices as a bonus. For Disney+ Premium, you can count on 11.99 euros per month or 119.90 euros per year. Thus, you get 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos audio support and support for simultaneous playback on four devices instead of two.
It is still possible to subscribe to Disney+ Standard and Disney+ Premium from the Canal+ ecosystem, but the subscription price will be added to your bill amount.
