In issue #17 of “I Am Batman”, the character Jace Foxson of Lucius Fox and Batman from New York, ends up discovering that his biological mother’s name is Elena. The revelation occurs at the moment when Jace confronts his father upon learning that she is in trouble.
After questioning Lucius and Tanya Fox to understand what was really going on, Jace discovers that, shortly after joining Wayne Enterprises, his father was involved in an affair of infidelity.
However, Jace does not take the news well, mainly because all his family already knew the truth and hid the story.
Family affairs Batman version
So he blames the character Lucius for using all his advantages to blackmail his mother Elena. Furthermore, he questions Tanya for having stood by his father’s side.
“You don’t understand what it’s like to stay, because when you made a mistake, you ran”Tanya said to Jace. “You ran away and left it to the rest of the family to make things right for you… You are in no position to judge anyone.”
The story of the new Batman not only presents his entry into “vigilantism”, but also his return to society after his military and mercenary career.
As reported in the 2021 miniseries, called “The Next Batman: Second Son”, Jace’s character commits a hit-and-run. However, all of the character’s money Lucius managed to get the Fox family to hide the crime. This way, Jace was not held responsible for the accident.
Despite this, the character never forgot his guilt and carried the trauma of the accident with him for many years of his life.
The story of “I Am Batman” #17 is written by John Ridley and features illustrations by Eduardo Pansica and Christian Duce. The colors were the responsibility of Rex Lokus, and it also features a main cover by “Duce” and “Lokus”.
