Mary Jane’s secret identity was officially revealed. Spider-Man. And here’s the thing: this revelation happened in the worst possible way. However, this isn’t the only situation the character has faced with his long-term relationship.
Spider-Man’s latest adventures also portray Peter Parker at his lowest point, with no friends, family or even a support system of any kind. Worst of all, even Mary Jane has abandoned him.
“Amazing Spider-Man #9” will continue this trend, but with the added burden of the hero having his identity revealed by someone he trusted. The latest Spider-Man adventure, from writer Zeb Wells, begins with a mystery.
Peter Parker made a not-so-interesting decision that is unknown to the public but known to everyone else. It ended up costing him almost everything, so now he’s struggling with money more than ever.
Even Earth’s other superheroes, especially the Fantastic Four, are avoiding the young man. In addition to them, his Aunt May, in particular, is very disappointed in her nephew. Only Black Cat could talk to him without scolding him.
These events are taking place before the 2022 “Hellfire Gala”, in which a flashback shows that there is even more distrust between one of the most famous couples in the world, Spider-Man and Mary Jane.
It is also possible to see that Moira is using Mary Jane’s body to infiltrate the situation. However, Spider-Man begins to suspect that Mary Jane is acting strangely, realizing that she is not the same, which ends up making him chase Moira with Wolverine as company.
Suddenly, Moira leaves Mary Jane’s body, but Peter Parker needs something special to defeat her: a disk. Briefly, Mary Jane screams: “Pete-Spiderman!”trying to get her attention. Soon, he uses his web abilities to grab the disc from the ground and attack Moira, forcing her to retreat.
Unfortunately, Mary Jane ends up blurting out Spider-Man’s real name in front of his enemies, but it’s not the first time this has happened. In 2012’s “The Amazing Spider-Man,” Gwen Stacy did literally the same thing, blurting out “PETER!” to a masked Spider-Man before he managed to cover his own mouth.
However, in the comics, Mary Jane had never freely told anyone about Spider-Man’s true identity, whether accidentally or not.
