Watch ES, watch GS Pro…: Honor introduces new connected objects in the absence of new smartphones

Until the end of last year, Honor could continue to offer Google licensed smartphones. But this was not possible after using all the marketing strategies like its parent company. The brand then made a bet: launch the Honor 9X Pro, a mid-range smartphone with a solid platform in Europe, a good price, but no local Google service. At that time it was necessary to access the Internet to access the usual services such as Twitter and Facebook. Good approach, but mixed results.

From that moment on, the brand tried to renew itself. Like its parent company, it excels in the PCs space, but also in the tablets and connected objects space. We were particularly surprised by the MagicWatch 2, a smartwatch with a very good price-quality ratio and a long battery life (from ten days to two weeks depending on usage). On the occasion of IFA, which opened its doors on September 3, in this new academic year of 2020, Honor is iterating on connected objects by further expanding its product range.

Focus on connected objects

Honor presented five “affiliated” products at a conference in Berlin, some more than others. you find in the mess electric toothbrusha cordless vacuum cleaner and one percussion massage gun. For example, an object that sports fans can appreciate as it allows to speed up recovery.

And exactly, speaking of sports, Honor has also introduced two more “traditional” products: two connected watches. Their positioning is very different. The first is called watch ESIt is intended to be the right combination of an Honor Band 5 type fitness bracelet and a watch like the MagicWatch. Also, the design resembles an activity tracker with a vertical rectangular screen. It is 1.64 inches in size and AMOLED. The dial is made of plastic and weighs 21 grams. Includes a chipset Kirin A14GB of RAM, one battery 180mAh (10 days of autonomy), a Bluetooth modem and a heart sensor in addition to environmental sensors. Honor takes over Garmin

called the second hour Watch GS Prois geared towards athletes with a still strong outdoor and adventure trend. Attacking Garmin’s market, this watch reminds us of Huawei’s Watch 2 Pro or Watch GT. It’s waterproof of course, plus it’s 5ATM and MIL-STD-810G certified against water, dust, vibration, drops, and harsh conditions. Its round screen is AMOLED. It measures 1.39 inches. The case is metal. It is 48 mm in diameter and 22 mm thick. It weighs 45.5 grams. This is a great model.

The Watch GS Pro always integrates Kirin A1, 4GB storage and 32MB RAM (to run a proprietary OS same as MagicWatch 2). includes a large battery 790mAh It gives twice the autonomy of MagicWatch 2: 25 days declared. It includes the same sensors as the Watch ES, plus a magnetometer (aka compass).

Bluetooth 5.1 sensor and a autonomous GPS sensor. Many functions are integrated for sports, outdoor trips and biometric data tracking. And of course, it includes a microphone and a speaker. The price of this watch is higher than the usual price range on Honor: 250 euros. It will be available next week.
