It is not practical to take your smartphone out of your pocket dozens of times. With this in mind, connected watches emerged that were sometimes cumbersome and had limited autonomy. The connected ring would be a more discreet way than ever to see what’s going on with your phone, and not just.

The patent in question offers a ring that can be recognized by a smartphone when placed on it. Next, a contextual menu appears, offering different options for controlling the TV, radio, home lights, and even blinds. A simple and discreet way to perform actions without having to open a few special apps.

If Samsung’s connected ring is just a patent for now, there’s no doubt that it will eventually come to light. Other manufacturers like Apple are also working on their smart rings. We were talking about the Smarty Ring, which launched on the Indiegogo platform two years ago, now raising almost $300,000, well over the originally planned 40,000.

But at the end of 2015, the start-up is still encountering difficulties with the demonstration of LEDs, promising a video of a functional prototype for weeks.
