Packages and delivery: No more damaged or lost packages thanks to this linked packaging!

We’ve all complained at least once about a late delivery or the condition of a package. The invention of Nantes start-up Living Packets could have changed the situation. Box “connected, smart and sustainable packaging” full of all kinds of electronics. “Content monitoring and control is provided in real time, thanks to GPS, shock, temperature and humidity sensor, and even an integrated camera.” Stéphane Larays, co-founder of this startup, which has about forty employees, explains.

“The most ecological packaging in the world”

Living Packets also wants to offer an ecological alternative to cardboard with The Box. One billion trees are cut down every year to make cardboard packaging used in e-commerce. The box does not fall into this category as it is made from recycled fibers. Made from 98% air and 2% recycled material. As Stéphane Larays explains, It is possible to reuse The Box more than 1000 times and can be recycled at will for an endless life cycle.

Also, The Box simplifies mail operations. Sending a package can be long and tedious. You’ll need to get the right size box, protect the contents with bubble wrap or polystyrene (polluting products), print and stick a label, bring it to the post office, pay for the postage, and cross your fingers for the package to arrive in one piece. . The box eliminates all these steps as a smartphone is all you need to ship and return a package.

Indeed, this new generation of packaging has replaced the paper label with a digital label that you have to scan with your smartphone, for example, if you want to change the delivery address. You can access a wealth of information about your package from a dedicated Android app: real-time tracking via GPS beacon, a report on the status of your products thanks to various built-in sensors (temperature, humidity, shocks) and alerts in case of unauthorized opening.

Web companies have already seduced

The product has won many big companies like Orange, Chronopost, and e-commerce giant Cdiscount. The platform has already used The Box for orders from 150 customers in the Bordeaux region (Cdiscount’s shipping center is located in Bordeaux). The phone operator will soon ship and return equipment to their stores with The Box.

And the general public? According to Living Packets, from spring 2020 we will be able to use The Box (€2 per shipment). Use of the service can be done either through partner businesses that will receive and redistribute the packaging, or by reusing a box. for personal purposes, for example, taken after a purchase on a seller’s site. Livings Packets is thinking big for 2020 with The Box producing 500,000 copies. The French start-up plans to take advantage of CES 2020 in Las Vegas to present its invention with great fanfare. The ambition is huge, as the company targets 4 million copies in circulation by the end of 2021.
