Nixie: watch drone for aerial selfies [Vidéo]

Nixie is a wrist-mounted camera that transforms into a drone and can fly. It’s a weird, hybrid, and super exciting project for 30-year-olds like your narrator.

Intel is holding a competition called “Make It Wearable Challenge”. promoting the creation of new wearable technologiesIn line with developing the smallest 3G modem in the world, it is especially suitable for these connected objects.

Nixie project is one of the finalists of the competition. Of course, the idea that this object, which responds to dreams we never dared to dream, is not a winner, but only a finalist for the moment, is of course fascinated. So who are the competitors, we ask ourselves. Therefore, you can discover them via the link at the bottom of the page, there you will see specifically the modular Blocks smartwatch that we talked about a few weeks ago.

Currently, Nixie is still in development. Christoph Kohstall, the captain of the team that developed this useless and wonderful device, finally start the watch with a simple gesture that will detach it from our wrist to get up. It then determines where you are, takes a photo or video, and returns to your wrist.

Let’s be honest, if this project comes to an end, there is a risk of triggering a serious crisis in the selfie world, rendering everything made so far prehistoric to self-portraits. The situation is worrying.

Nixie still has work to do to reach her goal, but there’s no doubt that Intel’s already favorite position and concept in the competition will make it happen. Best suited project on a platform like Kickstarter. Needless to say, I would gladly be an investor for Nixie and I don’t think I would be the only one.
