In September 2019, this man had refused to install the Linky meter in his home, which was under construction at the time. Enedis, faced with this situation, interrupted him. Installed in his new home since he lived without electricity, but still refused the installation of said counter.
The man then waged a long fight against the EDF subsidiary and through mediation. an agreement was reached. Enedis has indeed agreed to install a non-Linky meter in her home as she wishes. However, the story is probably not over yet as Enedis states that this new meter is only temporary.
New case law?
Still, it’s a small victory for the opponents of these opposites, which are in large numbers in France. As Midi Libre points out, another case in Bordeaux had a positive outcome, as noted by the courts. He said Enedis can’t make a Linky install mandatory.
Linky is the new EDF meter installed in millions of homes since 2015. More energy efficient and connected, saw many detractors appear those who accuse it of a higher risk of fire, a privacy breach, or a way of artificially increasing their electricity bills.
The crux of the problem is that electricity meters installed in private houses do not belong to them, since they belong to communities.
