In October 2017, Google released Pixel Buds, Bluetooth headphones equipped with Google Assistant. The accessory stood out above all with its real-time translation system that could translate speech into 40 different languages. In France, Pixel Buds have been priced at 179 euros since the end of 2018.
Google will present Pixel Buds 2 on October 15, 2019
Two years after the launch of the first generation, Google is gearing up to launch the Pixel Buds 2, report our colleagues at 9to5Google. “According to a source close to the project”, the headphones will be showcased on October 15 at the Made by Google 2019 conference. During this event, the Mountain View company will also introduce the Pixel 4 and Pixelbook 2, a new speaker from the Google Home series.
It is unknown for now whether Pixel Buds 2 will take over the design of the first model or if changes and improvements are expected. The Buds 1 were indeed connected by an unattractive or modern cable like the Beats Powerbeats 3 or the Beatsx.
Like Amazon with Echo Buds, Google can really bet on a completely wireless design to gnaw the market share of the famous AirPods. Apple headphones are currently the undisputed leader in the wireless market, with a 50.2% share. In the second quarter of 2019, Apple sold 15.9 million AirPods, three times more than in a year, the cabinet assures IDC. What do you expect from the new Pixel Buds? Could Google dethrone Apple?
