Galaxy Watches will soon work better on tattooed wrists

It can sometimes be surprising to find that a connected clock does not work properly when placed on a tattoo. In fact, the latter may be little tech gems that can measure a lot of health data, they look totally stunned when a tattoo pops up in front of them. In many cases, the tattoo ink acts as a “blocker”, causing the owner of the connected watch to believe that it is not in contact with his skin.

It’s an even more troubling concern, as it’s common to all connected watches, regardless of whether they’re made by Samsung, Apple, or any other manufacturer. Finally, after years of existence on the market, it finally decided to solve this first problem. Indeed, a Samsung employee announced in a post on the Korean version of his forum that an update will soon improve the use of his Galaxy Watch on tattooed wrists.

Your Galaxy Watch Active works better if your wrist is tattooed

The moderator states: “The teams are working to add a garment detection setting that will be available in an update in the second half of the year. After this update, you should be able to disable the garment detection setting and be notified if you have a tattoo on your wrist. »

Given the announced rollout window, it’s very likely that this feature will arrive at the same time as One UI Watch 5 and Wear OS 4 during the month of July. As a reminder, the Galaxy Watch 6 will be introduced on July 27 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5. The connected watch will be the first to benefit from Wear OS 4.
