Future watches under Wear OS will eventually adapt to lefties

Google promises an option for lefties

A new entry is comingAppear on ‘Google Issue Tracker’, an internal Google tool for analyzing next steps for improvement. Spotted by Mishaal Rahman, former editor of XDA Developer, the entry includes a reference from a user who describes his experience in these terms: “My Android Wear watch has buttons on one side and I want to wear the watch on my other arm (left-handed)”.

The comment from 2018 refers to Android Wear rather than Wear OS. But a few days ago a Google engineer added an entry to the tracker to verify that the option is indeed under development. The feature would be available at: “new devices of the future” which will run under Wear OS.

Obviously, Google doesn’t plan to push this innovation to connected watches that are already on the market. The option should be integrated directly in a new version of the operating system with new accessories that will arrive in stores in the coming months or years, such as the successors of the Galaxy Watch 4.
