Mi Band 5: Here are the first details about Xiaomi’s future connected bracelet

Xiaomi’s Mi Bands are, in the connected accessories market, the equivalent of Redmi in the smartphone market: inexpensive, but relatively complete products, offering good value for money. The version currently marketed in France is the Mi Band 4, a waterproof wristband with a 0.95-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 135mAh battery, heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope and Bluetooth sensor. It is currently on sale for around 30 Euros.

Mi Band 4, which has been marketed in France since summer 2019, will soon be replaced by a new model. The latter should simply be called Mi Band 5.A name that has been leaked since fall 2019. This week, a new tidbit from the Tizenhelp site reveals a bit more about this future bracelet, whose design has been entrusted to Xiaomi’s historical partner Huami. Accessories.

Touchscreen first. Mi Band 5’s should measure 1.2 inches. This corresponds to a 26% increase in viewing area. It should stay AMOLED. For better visual comfort in bright light, the brightness should be increased and the contrast ratio improved.

Then, this next-generation wristband should make use of an NFC port, even outside of China. As a reminder, only the Chinese version of the Mi Band 4 is equipped with an NFC sensor for contactless payment (a function reserved for Chinese residents). This sensor should be compatible with major contactless payment solutions including Google Pay.

The last detail has emerged Mi Band 5 should be marketed at 179 yuan in China. This is around 23 Euros. This could be the price of a version without NFC, which could mean a slight increase of 10 yuan. For comparison, the Mi Band 4 is available from 169 yuan for the NFC-free version to 349 yuan for the limited The Avengers version (including the NFC sensor, of course).
