Apple Watch: its success is already driving down the prices of Android Wear smartwatches!

Last Friday, Apple started pre-orders for the Apple Watch. As expected, the success was there. And as expected, Android Wear smartwatch prices are already starting to drop.

Analysts had predicted it, the Apple Watch registered a record number of pre-orders. According to preliminary figures released by analytics firm Slice Intelligence, Apple could register nearly a million pre-orders for the Apple Watch (957,000 to be exact) in the United States alone.

Analysts, within a year, California company may sell 20 million Apple Watches. It’s not very convincing, especially since initial tests unanimously felt that the Apple watch did nothing but Android Wear watches.

The Cupertino company has had phenomenal success since it sold more Apple Watches than Android Wear smartwatches in a single year.

The Moto 360 has fallen sharply since this morning in the United States.

As we predicted a few weeks ago, the arrival of the Apple Watch has indeed brought down the price of Android Wear smartwatches. In the United States, the Moto 360 this morning Usually $165 instead of $250 on the Google store and $180 on the Amazon site.

This price drop was predictable. Because if there is any leverage for Android Wear smartwatch manufacturers, it is price. The price of the Apple Watch starts at €350 for the first model, much higher than Android Wear watches.

Admittedly, the Apple Watch is reserved for iPhone owners, and Android Wear is only compatible with Android smartphones. But things could change as Google has made an iOS app to use an Android Wear smartwatch with an iPhone.

By offering watches with the same features as Apple Watch at more affordable prices, Android Wear may therefore appeal to some iPhone users. It’s a strategy that might work, provided Apple validates the Google app.
