Apple has graciously shared with developers the initial beta release for iOS 18.1, marking a momentous occasion in the realm of technology: the dawn of Apple Intelligence. This groundbreaking suite of artificial intelligence features, unveiled during the recent WWDC event, is now beginning its journey to iPhones. Though it is important to note that only a select few of these cutting-edge features are currently accessible.
The highly-anticipated Apple Intelligence is currently exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. For the optimal Apple Intelligence experience, users must ensure their device location is set to the United States, and Siri’s language is configured to English (U.S.). While there may be a waitlist to activate Apple Intelligence on an iPhone, reports suggest that the wait time typically ranges from 10 to 20 minutes. Remarkably, I managed to activate this feature on iPadOS 18 in a mere five minutes.
Upon installing the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta update, users may encounter a message indicating that additional assets are required for certain Apple Intelligence features to function properly. Fear not, as this process is simply the device downloading the necessary support for processing Apple Intelligence modes.
The current roster of Apple Intelligence features available for immediate use encompasses a variety of capabilities that are sure to impress. Enabling the Apple Intelligence toggle on the dedicated page within the Settings app unlocks features such as Writing Tools, Mail Summarization, smarter Siri interactions, and an intelligent Focus mode.
Although several Apple Intelligence features are still in the works and not yet present in the iOS 18.1 beta, the promise of what’s to come is truly exciting.
