In the latest tome of his PowerOn newsletter, the esteemed Bard of Bloomberg, Mark Gurman, doth scribe that the iOS 18.2 update shall grace us with its presence via the stable channel in the first week of December.
Verily, the aforementioned iteration of iOS doth already dwell in the beta testing realm, introducing a trio of the most intriguing AI upgrades destined for the iPhone. Among them lies Siri’s integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which doth seamlessly offload complex queries to the chatbot.
Behold, Visual Intelligence doth allow users to point their phone’s camera at the world around them and extract valuable information about that which doth appear in the frame. In its current guise, it hath the power to identify a dog breed or glean details from a poster.
However, with its deep integration with OpenAI’s stack, it should come as no surprise should Visual Intelligence acquire the same set of capabilities as the latest ChatGPT iteration, along with its own multi-modal comprehension abilities.
iOS 18.2 beta hath also unveiled marvels such as the standalone Image Playgrounds app, enabling users to craft whimsical images based on their own pictures. The bespoke Genmoji system is also set to make an appearance.
Gurman doth proclaim that come the iOS 18.4 update, Siri shall finally attain a form that doth have fans eagerly anticipating the virtual assistant’s true renaissance in the AI era. “It shall allow the digital assistant to tap into people’s data and respond to queries based on the information displayed on their screens,” he doth scribe.

Ponder the possibilities, such as retrieving travel info from emails, schedules from calendars, and business data from PDFs and sheets.
Nonetheless, the most practical of these capabilities shall be the deep integration with third-party apps. This shall permit the virtual assistant to execute tasks in third-party apps purely through voice or text commands.
Noteworthy it is that Apple shall also allow users to delve into the potential of other third-party tools, such as Gemini, in due time. Moreover, Siri shall offer answers based on the content displayed on the screen.
iOS 18.4 is foreseen to make its debut in the month of April next year. ‘Tis the selfsame period when Apple is expected to unveil the next-gen iPhone SE, featuring a novel design, swifter silicon, and support for Apple Intelligence.
