Rumors indicate who will be the new character of ‘Mortal Kombat’

Almost 30 years after the release of its first title, “Mortal Kombat” continues to make waves in the gaming world. In turn, the game, which was one of the first to introduce secret characters and easter eggs, is famous for its extensive library of fighters.

Since “Mortal Kombat X,” the franchise has been bringing characters from other pop culture universes, such as movie and comic book icons, into its games. Therefore, with the new title already in production, there are many rumors about who will be the guest character in “Mortal Kombat.”

A new beginning

After a conference held by Warner Bros., owner of NetherRealm Studios – the “Mortal Kombat” development studio led by Ed Boom –, the new game in the franchise was confirmed. Thus, the game, which will take place after the events of “MK11”, will be called “MK1”.

Furthermore, it should function as a kind of reboot of the series, bringing news. The main one is that, in this new chapter of the story, we will come across a new universe created by Liu Kang, which should feature alternative versions of the classic fighters.

New guest characters

The franchise started the tradition of bringing guest characters to the game “Mortal Kombat X”. So far, nine have participated in the bloody fighting tournament. Among the guests are characters such as the Joker, Jason, Spawn and even Ridley Scott’s Alien.

In their next game, the tradition should be maintained and there are already rumors about the possible guest characters. The villain from “The Boys”, Homelander, and the anti-hero Peacemaker, from DC Comics, have already been considered for the position.

More recently, rumors have pointed to a classic Arnold Schwarzenegger character, who already made his debut in the franchise as the Terminator in “Mortal Kombat 11”. We’re talking about him, Conan the Barbarian.

The rumor is based on statements made by Jez Corden, a journalist at Windows Centralin his podcast The Xbox Two. According to Corden, this name has been widely rumored. But he couldn’t say for sure whether it’s the Conan from the comics or the Schwarzenegger version.
