These are the only 6 heroes capable of defeating Thanos, according to the villain himself

The most powerful villain to ever appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is definitely the Thanos. Previously known only to veteran Marvel comic book readers, the Mad Titan remains ridiculously strong.

In fact, in the comics Thanos is very different from his film versions and has known many of his opponents for quite some time, enough to consider some of Earth’s heroes worthy enemies for a real battle.

In the comic book “Captain Marvel #31”, released in 1973, with scripts by Jim Starlin and drawings by Dan Green and Al Migrom, the Mad Titan listed the six names of his most relevant adversaries.

In the episode, the character uses a powerful cosmic artifact to put six heroes into stasis, when he admits that, with them off the board, no one could stop him. Fortunately for the frozen heroes, they manage to free themselves from Thanos’ trap, but not before he uses his powers.

In one of the stories that precede “Captain Marvel #31”Captain Marvel and Moondragon team up with the Avengers and Drax the Destroyer to deal with the impending threat of Thanos, who acquired the Cosmic Cube.

With With the Cube in hand, Thanos can see the attack coming, as he admits that there are six worthy heroes capable of stopping it, which are:

1. Iron Man;
2. Captain Marvel;
3. Drax the Destroyer;
4. Moondragon;
5. Starfox, his brother; and
6. Mentor, your father.

In a monologue, the character himself explains the reason for his choices. According to him:

• Captain Marvel is very dangerous thanks to his cosmic awareness;
• Iron Man almost stopped him twice and could do it again;
• Drax’s mission to kill Thanos makes him more determined than most heroes;
• Moondragon’s Titan heritage makes her a viable threat;
• Finally, Thanos includes his own father, Mentor, and brother, Starfox, in the group, considering their Titan powers and connection to him as dangerous.

While trapping the six heroes in a bioelectric field, Thanos even admits that they are “worthy adversaries” who “stood in his way,” which he truly admires.
