Well, it seems that some movie and car enthusiasts have done just that. The Internet Movie Car Database (IMCDB), a website known for identifying vehicles in movies, has taken on the colossal task.
With a comprehensive database, IMCDB has revealed some fascinating statistics. The model that has appeared in the most films to date is the Ford Crown Victoria, with an incredible 3,844 appearances in films and TV series.

This title is justified, as the Crown Vic was the most iconic taxi and police car in the United States for almost 50 years, especially in places where many films are recorded.
In second place, we have the Ford Mustang, surprising with 2,238 appearances, followed by the Chevrolet Impala, another famous police car in the USA, with 2,032 appearances.
The first European to make the list is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, widely used by gangsters and sinister figures in films, with 1,794 appearances, occupying sixth place on the list.
If we consider only models from the same generation, the Volkswagen Type 1, known as the ‘Beetle’, takes the lead, appearing in 1,926 film scenes. This perspective reveals a change in dominance, now led by Europeans.
Also, an interesting fact: the independent film ‘The Junkman’ holds the record for having 67 cars featured in the plot.
The original version of ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ featured an impressive 281 vehicles on the scene, 63 of which played important roles.
Therefore, the car that has appeared most on movie screens to date may be surprising to those who are not fans of American models.
However, the statistics provide a fascinating insight into the presence of automobiles in the history of cinema.
