Nintendo makes APPEAL in post for players to stop blowing into consoles

Nintendo gamers who have never blown into cartridges, cast the first stone! This old habit is part of the history of users of the Japanese company’s games. The older ones used to believe that blowing into the cartridges would make the equipment unlock.

The success of the 2000s remains even after more than two decades. However, the habit of blowing on Nintendo cartridges also insists on being part of gamers’ customs. But it is not at all recommended, understand why below.

Understand why you shouldn’t blow into Nintendo cartridges

Despite being a very common habit among gamers, it is important to note that blowing on cartridges was not an official solution recommended by Nintendo. In fact, the company explicitly warned against this practice. The act of blowing created moisture and condensation in the cartridge, which could potentially cause further damage over time.

Despite this, blowing into cartridges became something of a ritual for many players. It was a quick attempt to resolve connection issues and allow the game to be played without interruptions.

While it wasn’t an ideal solution and could cause damage over time, for many players this was a technique that worked well enough to allow the fun to continue.

In addition, players also try to clean their consoles with cotton swabs, but Nintendo does not recommend this practice either, as the hygiene item can get stuck to the equipment. Noticing this habit among its customers, the company published an information sheet about the risks. Check out the explanation:

“In the game card slot, there is a terminal for reading the game card. If you clean it with a cotton swab or insert a game card with a broken terminal, it may get stuck in the terminal and break. Please do not touch the inside of the game card slot. If dust gets into the game card slot, use a vacuum cleaner to suck it out. Please do not blow into it. Saliva may adhere to the terminals and cause rust or corrosion of the parts.”
