It’s a busy day for Samsung, which has made official its new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, as well as the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro connected watches. The brand is also active in the audio field by introducing the new Galaxy Buds Pro 2.
The South Korean manufacturer largely borrows the design of the first generation of Galaxy Buds Pro, but the Buds Pro 2 are 15% more compact. The biggest innovation will be found in the integration of a brand new audio codec: Samsung Perfect Codec (SSC) Hi-Fi. SSC Hi-Fi is a codec without compression and therefore without loss of quality. 24-bit sampling rate. Be warned, while it promises sound quality never seen before in the brand’s wireless headphones, the codec is only compatible with Samsung Galaxy smartphones running at least One UI 4.0.
Galaxy Buds Pro 2: SSC Hi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3 codec in the program
Galaxy Buds Pro 2 support Bluetooth 5.3, a standard that provides better performance in high-speed transmissions and better autonomy than the previous model. The range is declared up to 10 meters. Of course, the headphones feature active noise reduction, which can be customized via the app, managed by the three microphones on each earbud. We also find spatial sound with the 360 Sound mode.
Unsurprisingly, the headphones are Google Assistant compatible and feature touch controls to adjust volume, playback or active noise reduction. Regarding autonomy, Samsung announced 5 and 8 hours with and without ANC respectively. The charging case provides up to 18 and 29 hours of use.
Galaxy Buds Pro 2 comes in black, white and purple color options 229 euros. The introductory offer also allows the launch of the Samsung Duo 15W induction charging station to wirelessly charge two devices simultaneously, including the Buds Pro 2 case.
