Will Nintendo Switch 2 be able to run games at 240 FPS? It’s not that simple

There have been numerous “leaks” on the Nintendo Switch that have turned out to be false. It must be said that the craze around the console is at its peak. Still, this explains why the slightest bit of information is sometimes treated as an actual leak.

The internet has been on fire lately following a data mining tweet. Dataminer OatmealDome posted a screenshot on his X account (Twitter) that is indeed interesting to say the least. We can see that the NintendoWare Bezel Engine, the development kit used for Switch games above, can now run games at 240 FPS. Even better, it will now support VRR.

Will the Nintendo Switch really be able to run games at 240 FPS?

So theoretically, it will be future Switch games that can achieve these performances. It’s very easy to connect to the Switch 2 from here. But things are not that simple. In fact, OatmealDome himself states this upon release: “I want to clarify that this is not due to what the engine supports. [les 240 FPS] He said this will actually be used in games. »

In other words, if the software part makes it possible to achieve these performances, there is nothing to say that the hardware part will follow suit. Knowing that Nintendo’s next console will likely be similar to the current Switch, we have reason to doubt it will hit 240 FPS. On the other hand, there is good hope that we will see more games at 60 stable FPS. If the console does indeed support VRR, the gaming experience promises to be the smoothest ever seen from Nintendo.
