Marvel and Sony are fighting over Spider-Man again; understand

It’s no news to anyone that Spider-Man Tom Hollanda collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, was a success.

Despite this, some disagreements between both studios regarding the production of the next arachnid superhero film are drawing the attention of the media and fans.

According to information on the Patreonby Daniel Richtman, an expert on subjects related to Hollywood, it seems that Kevin Feige, responsible for Marvelis considering changing director Jon Watts for the next Spider-Man film.

The idea would be to give Watts the opportunity to work on different projects, while someone new would take over directing ‘Spider-Man 4’.

However, Tom Rothman, representing the Sonyappears to be inclined to keep Jon Watts on the project.

This may be due to the fact that Watts directed the previous three films, achieving box office success and showing positive results.

There are more disagreements between the two parties. The report also suggests that Sony is trying to speed up production on the film.

This narrative was backed up by tipster @CanWeGetToast (via Looper), who also mentioned that Kevin Feige is apparently feeling too overwhelmed to prioritize releasing ‘Spider-Man 4′ in 2025.

Still, Sony is adamant about sticking to this schedule, though it’s unclear whether this is due to the studio’s need to chase a hit, especially after Madame Web’s box office failure.

Like DC and the once-invincible Marvel, Sony is facing significant pressure to reconsider its approach to producing comic book-based films.

According to a source from The Hollywood Reporterthe environment at Sony is currently described as dark.

Uncertainty hangs over whether Marvel and Sony will be able to reach a solution that is beneficial to both parties. Furthermore, there is a need to resolve differences regarding the film’s plot.

Studios differ on ‘Spider-Man 4’

Additionally, there are reports that Sony wants to include two major ‘Marvel actors in Spider-Man 4,’ specifically Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.

However, Kevin Feige doesn’t seem to agree, even after the success of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’where Garfield and Maguire are expected to join Tom Holland, each playing their version of the friendly neighborhood superhero.

On the other hand, Marvel is interested in a more realistic film, avoiding the complexity of the multiverse in favor of a narrative that returns to Spider-Man’s origins in New York City.

According to Daniel Richtman’s report, there is a possibility that the fourth part will include Miles Morales.

Additionally, negotiations are underway for Nicolas Cage to play ‘Spider-Man Noir’, a character he voiced in the animated film ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’.

The potential inclusion of multiple versions of the superhero suggests that Spider-Man 4 will have ambitions and considerable scale, going beyond the style of blockbuster street level that Kevin Feige is said to want.

However, it is important to highlight that it is still too early to draw definitive conclusions, as none of the parties involved have officially announced updates on the project.
