3-time Grand Slam Champion Andy Murray He recently admitted to having cramping issues in the 2022 season that will keep him from running deeper in tournaments. Evening StandardA London-based daily newspaper recently did an interview with the former British World Number 1, and it was revealed by him there.
The British have never been the same player after a hip injury nearly ended his career in 2017. Tura came back in 2018 but was a shadow of her previous self. However, the former World No. 1 climbed to No. 46 in the rankings, the best post of his comeback in 2018.
Andy Murray noted that his recent cramps are the bad guy for his bad results this season. He did not expect to win the title, but believes the cramp has shortened his runs in most of the recent tournaments.
“It’s been in pretty bad shape for the past few months. I’ve had issues with cramps in the last seven or eight tournaments and have never had it consistently. So, I am extremely disappointed. I can handle losing a tennis match because it’s a tough sport and sometimes you can’t perform as you want, but there’s no excuse for being physically frustrated.“.
He went on to say how he felt about himself and his work rate:My thought over the last four or five months is that I haven’t done enough work to perform at the level I need. If I want to go back to the top of the game I need to change this..
“There’s no guarantee I’ll win these matches without cramping, but I feel like there will potentially be deeper runs. I played many tournaments from Wimbledon to the end of the season. In terms of stamina, I haven’t coped that well but have not had injuries and giggles that haven’t been like this for the past few years.“.
Despite the poor results, The British World No.46 is still looking on the good side and how it can outperform in 2023.I am positive about the next season and the work I have to do. I’ve already started some of these and need to empty the tank in the gym and training ground in the next six to eight weeks. At the beginning of the season I was 130-140 years old in the world and now I am in the top 50. For most players, this is a positive year. I don’t see it that way for me but I’ve made progress“.
