Google is planning to release a new version of Google Home Mini which was released in 2017, let our colleagues from 9to5Google. Unsurprisingly, this new connected speaker inherits the series rebranding and name Slot. According to a reliable source, the new Home Mini would soberly be called the “Nest Mini”.

That’s not all. The Nest Mini reportedly sounds better than the original Google Home Mini we tested. As we explained to you in our test at the time, the speaker’s sound quickly becomes saturated and there is no bass. For music lovers, it is better to turn to the standard Google Home or Google Home Max. The Nest Mini could change the game with higher max volume and better bass.
Like the Google Home Mini’s Alexa-equipped rival, the Echo Dot, Nest Mini will have a 3.5mm jack port. Therefore, it would be possible to wire the speaker connected to a conventional speaker. No need to go over the Bluetooth connection. Nest Mini comes with a wall mount for easy installation on the wall. Many third-party vendors already offer very successful wall mounts for the Home Mini (as well as competing speakers like the Echo or Apple’s HomePod).
On the design side, the Nest Mini is worldwide similar to its predecessor. Finally, the Nest Hub Max will also be equipped with proximity sensors such as Nest Guard and Nest Protect that allow it to detect your presence. Google should lift the curtain on its next-gen smart speakers in the fall during the Pixel 4 presentation.
