Diablo 4 introduced itself at length at the Microsoft conference on Sunday evening. We were able to explore the gameplay, but also with a release date of 2023. If the title’s fun quality is to be trusted, one thing worries players: economic aspect.
Diablo Immortal, a recently released mobile game, arouses the anger of users with its win-win aspect. To sum it up, it’s free to play, but you have to pay to progress and be better than others, even if that means putting in huge sums. Concern about Diablo 4 is therefore very present in society. Backed by a job offer spotted on LinkedIn that tells us: Blizzard is looking for a Product Manager. i.e. someone who will have to manage the way the in-game store works.
Blizzard promises Diablo 4 won’t be pay-to-win
This is why Diablo fans are worried after this discovery: Diablo 4, An economic system as scandalous as Diablo Immortal’s? Will the game make us pay for everything? Not at all, it gives Blizzard confidence.
Rod Fergusson, the big boss of the Diablo licenseHe wanted to clarify the situation on Twitter. Yes, Diablo 4 will have an online store. But this will be dedicated to cosmetics or the sale of future story-driven DLCs, as has already been done in World of Warcraft. Indeed, Diablo 4 will be a full-price game, not a free-to-play game:
To be clear, D4 is a full-priced game built for PC/PS/Xbox audiences. We’re committed to delivering an incredible breadth of content post-launch for years to come, around optional cosmetic items and full story-driven expansions. More details coming soon. Necro blog tomorrow!

“To be clear, Diablo 4 is a premium game designed for PC or console gamers. We want to offer a ton of post-launch content like cosmetics or story-driven expansions. More details coming soon!”
So, for now, we have to trust Fergusson’s word. After the Diablo Immortal scandal, there’s no doubt that Blizzard needs to be very careful about this for their next license game.
